Unlocking Chelona's Rise in Elden Ring requires players to solve the Seek Three Wise Beasts puzzle on the Moonlight Altar plateau. Unlike similar tower puzzles in the game, the ghostly turtles for this challenge are scattered far across the region rather than hovering right next to the entrance. Finding each spirit beast requires strategic exploration and a solid understanding of the mechanics that keep them spawned.
Starting the Chelona's Rise Turtle Hunt
To begin the puzzle, travel to the southern reaches of the Moonlight Altar plateau and examine the imp statue outside Chelona's Rise. Reading the pedestal activates the quest and causes three massive phantom turtles to appear across the region. A critical rule for this puzzle is that you must avoid fast traveling or resting at Sites of Grace while searching, as doing so causes the beasts to despawn until you read the statue again.
Locating the Cliffside and Eastern Wise Beasts
The first wise beast is located directly west of Chelona's Rise, clinging to the edge of the rocky cliff face. Players can easily strike it with a ranged attack or bow while standing near the ledge. The second giant turtle rests on a secluded lower plateau far to the east at the edge of the southern path. You can carefully drop down or use ranged spells to hit it from above.
Finding the Floating Wise Beast and Unlocking the Seal
The third wise beast is found far to the north, floating high in the air near the Ringleader's Evergaol. To destroy this airborne turtle, ride Torrent into the nearby Spiritspring draft located among the trees to launch yourself directly into it. Once all three beasts are defeated, a message will confirm that the seal on the tower has broken. Returning to the tower grants access to a chest containing the legendary sorcery Ranni's Dark Moon.
